Important notice for those applying for doctoral programs in Academic Year 2025

The "National Science and Technology Council Graduate Research Fellowship Pilot Program" for 2025 NSTC Selection is now open for applications on the NSTC website from October 1 to November 15, 2024.

1.Due to universities conducting admissions through screening and test from October to December, NSTC has extended the original deadline to November 15, 2024, to allow applicants more time to prepare their documents.

2. Applicants must submit a complete application, including a research proposal. The NSTC has updated the relevant documents, which can be accessed via the following links:

3.Eligibility and Qualifications:

The fellowship is available to students who intend to apply for doctoral programs for the Academic Year 2025 (including Ph.D. entrance examination), as well as those applying for Direct-Entry Doctoral Degree Program for 1st semester of 2025/2026, and who will enroll in the Ph.D. program in either February or September 2025. Eligible applicants must be first-year Ph.D. students (with valid student status in 2nd semester 2024/2025 or 1st semester of 2025/2026).

The following individuals are not eligible to receive this fellowship:

(1) Those who are engaged in full-time paid employment in public or private sectors or who apply for admission as part-time students possessing responsibilities related to employment.

(2) Students from Hong Kong, Macau, and Mainland China.

(3) Those who have applied for leave of absence and retained their admission eligibility or have not completed registration after admission.

(4) Those who are concurrently in receipt of scholarship or subsidy offered by the ROC government.

4.Number, Amount, and Duration of this fellowship:

A total of 400 for NSTC Selection will be awarded each year. Each recipient will receive a monthly scholarship of NT$40,000, starting from the first year of the doctoral program and continuing for up to three years. If the student graduates within three years, the scholarship will end in the month of graduation. The scholarship is fully funded by the NSTC.

5. 2025 NSTC Selection Timeline:

(1) Online Application Period: From October 1 to November 15, 2024. Applicants must submit their applications and upload the required documents through the NSTC website during this period.

(2) Expected Announcement of Results: January 24, 2025 (subject to extension if necessary).
